Dark Souls 3

I'm planning on continuing writing stories but for the moment I've been sucked into Dark Souls 3.

It's a very addictive game. It's still as hard as usual. I never completed the first or even started the second, but I've been assured that it's harder than both. It uses the same format, of course, with important changes if you've played the previous games and only very slight changes if you haven't. The game works exactly the same as before, which is good, because it had a good format going for it.

It is of course very fustrating when you come across creatures that will just destroy you until you memorise their attack patterns, or get lucky, but it makes it very satisfying when you gain that slight semblence of progression. Plus if it gets too hard you can always go back and just kill creatures until you level up. If you're playing online you can put up a summon sign outside boss areas so people can summon you to help them, which is very rewarding. You get souls for doing this, and if you die while helping someone you don't lose any souls. So helping people is a zero risk but great reward system.

So yeah, it's very fun. I'm most likely going to carry on playing this for a while, then write some more after. If anyone is thinking about buying Dark Souls 3 I would reccomend that you do! The community is especially cool right now while it's new. There are always loads of people available to summon for bosses, and people will summon you if you want to get involved. Or you can even invade people or fight off invaders. After enjoying this game so much I've decided to definitely go back to Dark Souls at some point, and probably go through Dark Souls 2. I might even have to get Demon Souls. Graphics on the old games obviously aren't as good but the gameplay sure is.

The Morning After Wrestlemania 32

I verily enjoyed last night's Wrestlemania. It was good. There were a few not-so-good outcomes, but it was still good overall.

Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and... Stone Cold Steve Austin!
So the New Day had their match with the boring League of Nations. WWE knew fans wouldn't get into this match, so WWE had a great surprise waiting for us. A Wrestlemania moment. After the New Day inexplicibly lost to the League of Nations (luckily the titles weren't on the line this time, for some reason). And then as the League of Nations say that there are no three men who can stand toe to toe with them out comes HBK, Shawn Michaels, in his wrestling gear, followed by Mick Foley and the Texas Rattlesnake himself Stone Cold Steve Austin, wearing a Dallas 3:16 T-shirt that I now want. They proceeded to kick ass. New Day came back in the ring to celebrate by getting the 3 hall of famers to dance with them, ending in Xavier Woods receiving a Stone Cold Stunner. It was pretty great, and a good way to save an uninteresting bout.

7-Man Ladder Match
It wasn't as convoluted as I thought it would be. This ended up being a good match. Sami Zayn came out to a great reaction from the WWE Texan crowd, which bodes well... hopefully. I would say this match was good enough to stop me from wishing it was a singles bout between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, but that would be impossible. Still, it was a good match. And a surprise winner in Zack Ryder, who definitely deserves it. WWE could have had Sami Zayn win and have a massive boost to start his WWE main roster career, but Zack deserves it, and I guess Sami and Owens don't need a title to keep their fued interesting. They can prove they're main event and world champion caliber wrestlers without having the title.

Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar
Did this match feel oddly short to anyone else? It was a great match. Ambrose put Lesnar on his heels, and proved how good he is, but Ambrose has already proven how good he is plenty of times. It would have been a great oppurtunity for WWE to say that they take Ambrose seriously as a wrestler to compete on the level of Roman Reigns, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, and the likes of John Cena and Seth Rollins. But he lost, and he's still only on Ambrose level; that is, having important matches but losing 100% of them. 2015 was Rollins' year. 2016 is Reigns' year. Maybe 2017 will be for Ambrose.

Diva's... No wait, Women's Championship Match
A new women's championship. Good. Although I don't like the colour scheme so much, still good though, and cool that it's the same design as the men's world championship. I look forward to the day when people mention the WWE Championship and people have to ask "Are you talking about the men's or the women's?" This was a fantastic match. The crowd really got invested in it as well. This could've easily been one of the "main events" of the show. Here's hoping a women's main event for next year. Hopefully with Bayley. Bayley for champ 2017! Also seeing Becky Lynch suicide dive Ric Flair was awesome. Oh yeah and Charlotte moonsaulted from the top rope to the outside. It was amazing. This match arguably stole the show at Wrestlemania. Charlotte won this match, to become the Women's champion. I think Sasha is still the fan favourite though. She'll get the belt eventually.

Shane McMahon vs The Undertaker
Cool match. Highlight was Shane jumping off the cell to deliver an elbow to the undertaker through the table. It was crazy. Undertaker won to fight another wrestlemania. Really don't know where they're going with the Shane being back story after this....

Battle Royale
WWE really love their Andre the Giant Battle Royale. This was a pretty lame match. It served as the buffer to for people to chill out before the main event. Even though there was another segment before the main event, but it involved The Rock, and you can't go to the toilet or go to buy another beer if The Rock is speaking. Baron Corbin from NXT won this, which is pretty cool. It kinda shows that they don't care much about it if it's going to someone that hasn't been on raw or smackdown yet, but also it might be a sign of Corbin going to the main roster, which would be cool.

The Rock vs Eric Rowan
I shit you not, this happened. The Rock came out down the ramp through the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Lucky man. Fun fact: The cheerleaders came out to Thunderstruck by AC/DC but WWE have cut it and replaced the music. The Rock comes out, Wrestlemania 32 broke attendance record, he had a flamethrower, it was cool. Then the Wyatts come out, making it even cooler. They have a cool verbal confrontation, the the Rock rips off his clothes to reveal he's wearing his wrestling gear. He and Rowan have a match that I think lasted 7 seconds. Rock bottom and pin. Bray gets angry and the family get ready to attack. John Cena's music hits to an impressive ovation. The crowd still chant "John Cena sucks" a bit to Cena's music, but seem otherwise happy with his appearance. I was a bit disappointed that he didn't take to the mic, but oh well. Maybe WWE aren't trying to shove Cena down our throats.

Triple H vs Roman Reigns
Somebody has been reading 1984. Triple H's intro was pretty cool. Steph introduces him by making a very corrupt dictatorial speech. With Roman on the other side of this fued she might be able to make an oppressive authority into the good guys. The match wasn't so great though. For such a physical fued where they've battered the hell out of each other backstage, using anything they can get as weapons, it was strange that their fued culminates in a standard by-the-book match. It could've been better as a No DQ match. But also the crowd just didn't like Roman. They cheered when Triple H was winning and booed when Roman was winning. As did I. We have no reason to like Roman. He's not such a good guy. He's had the odds stacked against him, yes, but before that he was just a guy that wants to be champion, and afterwards he is still just a guy that wants to be champion. He hasn't shown himself to be a nice guy, or an underdog. There's nothing to his character. Which is a shame. He could be done better. There were no twists, no heel turns, it was a clean match and Roman won. And everyone went home disappointed. Also, Steph was great.

Overall it was a good event, with a lot of great matches. Just a disappointing ending. Really looking forward to Monday Night Raw though. I wonder what surprises WWE have in store for us.

Wrestlemania!

It's Wrestlemania night tonight! In four hours the annual show of shows will start. Although after fridays NXT Takeover Dallas they're going to be hard-pushed to beat the show NXT put on. To be honest there are only a few matches I'm looking forward too unfortunately.

AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho: These two are both great wrestlers, and they should be able to put on another great match. Hopefully this one will be even better now that they've had a lot of practice against each other. Also since their rivalry has been taken to a greater level with Jericho the clear heel, this match will hopefully be more brutal than before.

Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar: Hopefully the weapons in this match will be the equilizer that Ambrose needs to have a chance against Brock. I'm really hoping they give Ambrose the win. A win over Brock, even if it can be explained by using a lot of otherwise illegal tools, would be great for Ambrose, who has been on a severe losing streak when it comes to major matches. Whereas Brock doesn't need to be built up any more, and a win over Ambrose wouldn't build him up at all. Really hoping they don't give Ambrose the very predictable "he lost but still showed that he's really tough" treatment. He's been doing that for years.

Shane vs The Undertaker: This is guarantied to be a brutal match. I'm more interested in seeing what surprises we might witness, like any interferes. To give Shane the clean win is a clear slap in the face to all the great wrestlers (which Shane is not) who lost to him. But also if Shane doesn't win then this whole Shane being back to wrest control of Raw from the Authority storyline is pointless.

The New Day are great but they're against some boring opponents unfortunately. League of Nations is failure. Kalisto vs Ryback. Need I say more? One half of Lucha Dragons who WWE are too afraid to push properly as a singles wrestler yet somehow has the US title. Bring back the US open challenge and give Kalisto a chance with it! Divas title match. These three were great in NXT, but even coming up to WWE haven't really garnered much interest in the Divas division, although it IS a great improvement from before. This should really be an amazing match anyway though, that will hopefully earn women's wrestling the respect it deserves. Although what will really decide it is if they can draw the crowd into investing in the match. The intercontinental title ladder match. Seems like this is becoming a tradition now. It was an amazing match last year, but feels a little forced this year. Owens vs Zayn in a singles bout would have been better. But I guess they're saving that... until... after?... Wrestlemania? Whatever. Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale. Speaks for itself. It'll only be good if theres a surprise somebody interesting in it. Then there's the Total Di..... you know what? Not even worth mentioning that match.

Hopefully the event will be full of surprises and The Rock to keep us entertained in between the exciting matches.

Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice

Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice

So I watched this movie the other day. It's been slated to pieces by critics, yet it made a lot of money at the box office, and friends who have watched it have had differing opinions, so I thought I'd actually take the time to watch it.

There were problems with it, of course, otherwise critics wouldn't have ripped on it so harshly. Overall, as a movie, it wasn't that bad. As a comic book fan, and as someone who doesn't like it when things just don't make sense, I didn't like it. But if you just want to watch an interesting movie then I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

Some of the plot devices to move the story along just seemed a bit random. I almost think that Zack Snyder had a dartboard with ideas on it and chose whichever one the dart landed on in order to decide what to use.

Spoilers Ahead

How to get Batman to actually decide that he needs to kill Superman? Aha! The dart landed on the "Have the Flash go back in time" idea. Flash turns up for a very short amount of time before he's sucked back to the future to give Batman a vision of an evil Superman and Flash tells Batman that "you were right about him"

But then they have their epic battle to the death, and Batman almost kills Superman until he finds out their mothers have the same name. Then they work together to fight against Lex Luthor's monster. I guess the dart landed on the "he find's out their mothers have the same name" idea. If Superman is going to turn evil in the future and invade Earth with an army of monsters, and you've decided to kill him, it shouldn't matter that his mother has the same name as yours. Get it together Bruce.

Ah well. There were still some cool parts, like when Batman walks past the suit of Robin with "joke's on you Batman" written on it. It makes me very interested in the backstory to this universe's Batman. It makes me look forward to Suicide Squad that bit more, and it also makes me look forward to another Batman film. A Batman film that's just a Batman film. Without Superman.
